> Growth Mindset

We held an event at school to celebrate children who have been attending a Growth Mindset intervention and who have been taking part in the ‘Marvellous Mistakes’ eTwinning project. The children explained what they had been doing, and how by applying a growth mindset they have been able to achieve more in class because they have much of an ‘I can do it’ attitude rather than ‘I can’t!’ The children really enjoyed telling their parents about the different activities they have undertaken and the variety of collaborative challenges that they have had to overcome – challenges that they have had to do independently, in groups or through discussions with people in other countries. We received great feedback from everyone who came along.

Well done to all the children involved!

Parent Comments:
“I think mindset is a fantastic new way for the children to empower themselves with these learning. I loved seeing how proud all the children was for themselves. Well done”
“I hope the school will continue using the Growth Mindset with the children as we can see the positive changes it has made in the kids”
“This initiative has really helped our daughter improve her mentality and ‘never give up attitude’.  Its been a great help to her. Keep it up”
“I was not aware of this before last week, but I think that it has given my son a lot more confidence with his school work.  I will take every opportunity to learn about this so I can use this with my other children”

> Sam and Sammie

no images were found

As part of improving our attendance and punctuality, we arranged for Sam and Sammie (Local Authority Attendance reps, see attachment) to come into the playground before school starts and meet and greet the children who are on time.

They were given a sticker, praise and a high 5.   Sam was in one playground with our Education Welfare Officer and Sammie was in the other playground with a member of our school staff.

We wanted this to be a surprise for the children and to help encourage them and congratulate them for being on time.  They also visited the pupils in breakfast club so they did not miss out.
