Pupil Premium

Pupil Premium is an additional payment made to schools by the Government. It makes up part of the school’s funding and is focused on ensuring that all children, particularly those that the Government regard as disadvantaged, achieve the best possible outcomes. At Shaw Wood we recognise that all children are different and the challenges are varied. The additional income we receive from pupil premium enables us to ensure that every child is given every chance to reach their full potential.

The Pupil Premium Grant is used to:

  • raise attainment and close the gap
  • provide social, emotional and behaviour support
  • improve attendance
  • enable an innovative and challenge based curriculum
  • provide access to extra-curricular activities and school trips

Your child will be eligible for the grant if they:

  • have been eligible for free school meals (FSM) within the last six years
  • are looked after or in Local Authority care (CLA)
  • have a parent currently employed by the armed services

The documents attached give more information and we would encourage every parent who may be eligible to support their child and the school by applying.
