At Shaw Wood, we are lucky to have a pastoral team who work with children and parents throughout school on all kinds of issues.

Mrs Tame is our Behaviour Manager. She primarily works with children who are having difficulties with behaviour in school and can also provide support and advice if your child has difficulties at home.

Miss Rees is our Pastoral Manager and Safeguarding Lead. She primarily supports children who have social and emotional difficulties at school or home. Please get in contact with her if you have any concerns about the well-being or children in our school.

Both Miss Rees and Mrs Tame are trained Thrive practitioners.  They use the Thrive Approach to help develop children’s emotional and social well-being. Thrive helps to check children’s readiness to learn, to identify any gaps and then plan to meet their needs. In this way we make sure that all our children have what they need to make the best progress in learning. They have also both had training in the family caring trust parenting programme, which enables them to empower parents with strategies to improve family life. They have had training from the children’s sleep charity, which helps them to advise parents on developing good sleep patterns for their children.

As a team, we work together to ensure all of the children in our school are happy.  If you feel like you or your child need some support but are not sure whether or not we would be able to provide it, please ask.  We will do our very best to help you.
