British Values

At Shaw Wood we promote British Values to ensure that our children leave our school prepared for life in modern Britain. The values of respect, democracy, rule of law, individual liberty and tolerance are underpinned in everything we do within our Curriculum, particularly our PSHE programme, school policies and our school assemblies.

Respect

The recognition that everyone has their own unique qualities and beliefs, and that these should be respected

Democracy

A culture built upon freedom and equality where everyone is aware of their rights and responsibilities

Rule of Law

The idea that everyone is subject to the same laws which are enforced fairly and consistently

Individual Liberty

The freedom to make choices about life, such as speech and lifestyle

Tolerance

The acceptance of others' differences, even if you don't share their beliefs
