Design & Technology
At Shaw Wood Academy we intend to deliver a Design and Technology curriculum that is:
- inspiring
- practical
- purposeful
We want our children to solve real life problems that are relevant to them and consider their own wants, needs and values as well as others. Through our Design and Technology curriculum, children are given the opportunity to think creatively, and be resourceful.
Our curriculum aims to create well-rounded, responsible children whom can adapt to given situations. We encourage children to use their imaginations whilst building on prior research and background knowledge to plan, make and evaluate a range of pre-existing products that will influence their own creations.
Our Design and Technology curriculum promotes teamwork as well as independence from year 1 through to year 6. Our staff strive to promote a space where children feel safe to take risks and learn from their mistakes, that improving a child’s ability to evaluate and assess their work and make reasonable and necessary adaptions where necessary.
